So many lessons from Spirit and the Universe right now. Like everyday….it’s like being back at school! But…my soul did ask for a fast-track with my spiritual awakening and that’s what I’m getting! And I’m learning daily the art of stretching my comfort zone!
Yes…get out of your own way!
Because I’ve had so many lessons and shifts in myself recently…I may look calm on the surface of the water but like a duck my little legs are paddling quickly underneath the surface LOL. And lessons and major changes show up when you are playing small!
When you aren’t stretching your comfort zone!
When you are staying comfortable and making excuses and putting off doing what you know deep down you need to do.
The lessons will continue to show up again and again and again…until…you say enough is enough, throw that towel in, have a mini toddler tantrum (my 3 year old is amazing at them!) and show the fuck up.
Yes.
Show the fuck up.
Show up in all your amazingly beautiful glory as your most badass self, your most Authentic Self, not giving a fuck about anything.
Just show up.
Make that decision, whatever decision it is that you know you need to make…and show up.
Yeah yeah, I know, easier said than done. And I totally get that and can completely relate. I, too, am a huge procrastinator! If procrastination were an Olympic sport, I’d be getting a medal for it!
But let me ask you this…what’s the worst thing that can happen if you don’t take the action and show up as you are meant to?
Think about that for a second or two…if you don’t do anything and continue to put things off (whatever it is you are putting off) then how will you feel if you never take that action? If you never step it up? If you continue through life on this same path and never fully realise your potential.
Sit with that.
How will you feel if you never fully realise your potential? Knowing that you had more within you…but you couldn’t take the steps you needed to take to step into that potential?
That…is painful as fuck to think of…don’t you think?!
Knowing that your soul came here to achieve certain things, to experience certain lessons, to go on a particular journey and to fulfil a certain destiny. But in order to do that, it meant levelling up, showing up and pushing those boundaries and the confines that have held you back.
What are you so afraid of?
I get it.
I know how hard it is to push oneself through to the next level. Knowing that you have to take certain steps in order to get to that level.
Life is supposed to be about learning and growing. It’s how our soul evolves through learning new lessons and growing to the next level.
But with growth comes the need to push the confines of our comfort zone. Literally…push those 4 walls wide open and stretch them even more!
That’s the thing….the more you push your comfort zone, the easier things become. Because you’ve stretched it that little bit more. And over time…you look back at how far you’ve come and wonder why you ever felt so scared…but that’s because you’ve taken little consistent steps over and over again to stretch your comfort zone that little bit more.
The story of the penny that doubles
Let me tell you a little story that I learnt during my Network Marketing days. It’s the story of the penny that doubles over 30 days. It’s all about the compound effect. Which is what I’m referring to when I say take small daily actions towards stretching that comfort zone and doing the things that scare the shit out of you.
The story of the penny that doubles goes like this:
Day 1 – you have 1 penny
Day 2 – you double that penny…and you have 2 pennies
Day 3 – you double those 2 pennies…and you now have 4 pennies
Day 4 – you double those 4 pennies…and you now have 8 pennies
You get the idea.
By Day 10, you have $5.12.
By Day 15, you have $163.84.
By Day 20, you have $5,242.88.
And by Day 30, you have $5,368,709.12.
All…from 1 penny.
At the beginning of the 30 days, you just had 1p. But by doubling it just once every single day for 30 days, you end up with over $5M!
And it’s the same with getting out of your own way and taking the action steps daily towards your goals. Because it’s the small steps, the small seemingly insignificant steps and actions you are taking that stretch that comfort zone just that little bit further each day.
The compound effect is powerful. Its like marathon runners, they don’t just go out and run a marathon on day 1. It’s all the training and the nutrition and the self care over time that allows them to do it.
The same goes for you with whatever it is you are scared to move forwards with…whether that’s taking your business to the next level, going to the next level in your career, growing and developing your spiritual gifts, aligning more with your soul purpose or transforming your relationship.
(And how I wish I had a penny that doubled for 30 days in real life LOL!).
So what are you going to do about your comfort zone?
Seriously, ask yourself these questions:
- If I keep doing nothing and taking no action, how will I feel about that?
- What consistent action steps can I take that’ll help me grow just that 1% a day?
- How will I know when I’m not taking action? What does that feel like?
- What’s the worst thing that can happen by me stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking action?
Because whatever it is you’re stalling on…in reality, it’s not going to kill you is it by doing what you are scared to do. The thing you’re so scared of is all within your own mind.
It’s the things like:
- the fear of being seen
- showing up and nobody sees you for who you are
- taking action…and then hearing crickets
- embarrassing yourself
- being judged
But these are all opinions based on fear. Your opinions. Because there’s no evidence whatsoever to say that if you show up and take the action that people will laugh at you.
That’s all in your mind.
And it’s the fears you have to break free from. Just choosing to take action…and having clarity as to why you are taking that action.
Because a confused mind says no. And if you are confused about why you are taking this action…or you aren’t in alignment with it…then it will always feel off.
So tune into your feelings about how showing up and getting out of your own way feels!!!
For me, when I’m completely out of alignment and it’s just not the right thing to be doing at all, it feels off. Like an icky feeling in my body, I feel ill and just not right at all. Like a heaviness. And when it’s completely aligned but is just a bit scary, I feel lighter, like butterflies, and this anticipation that’s slightly scary but feels right.
So tune in.
And then show up.
And take that action.
Because, as the saying goes, “life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.
